The Mascotto widget on a merchant's storefront collects no personal information from shoppers. No names, no emails, no accounts, no tracking profiles, no cookies for advertising. To help merchants understand engagement, the widget records anonymous event counts (for example, "the mascot was shown" or "the mascot was tapped") tied to a random session identifier that is not linked to any person and expires with the browser session.
When a store installs Mascotto we receive the store's domain and, through Shopify's standard app authorization, the account details Shopify shares with apps (such as the store owner's name and email). We use these solely to operate the app — authentication, support, and billing through Shopify. We do not sell or share this information.
Text written by merchants in the Mascotto admin is sent to our voice-generation provider to produce audio, then stored so it can be played to shoppers. Merchant-written scripts should not contain personal information.
When a store uninstalls Mascotto, access credentials are deleted immediately, and all remaining store data — scripts, generated audio, configuration — is permanently deleted following Shopify's data-erasure schedule (within 48 hours of Shopify's redaction request). Shopper-level deletion requests have nothing to act on, because no shopper data is held.
